Smart Meter Friend or Foe

sjones2939

You may note that my so called Smart Meter is rather dusty and dirty as well as not displaying details of my gas consumption. The dust is because it has been thrown in a corner due to the fact that it only works intermittently for electricity usage and has never worked for gas. This is our second smart meter as the first one failed after about one week and it took two years and repeated promises by British Gas to try and rectify the problem. Their engineers missed so many appointments to attend that they ended up paying us compensation. At first they said that they could repair it remotely but we had to turn it off and unplug it from the mains for ten days first. Why? The reason the gas monitoring function does not work is because the gas meter is too far away from the electricity meter so unless I make my house smaller or British Gas move away from stone age technology then it will never work.

Yes I know, there are 4 million people in the same situation as me so what is the fuss? well it seems that there is a plan to increase the cost of energy during peak periods in an attempt to get people to reduce usage at times when there will be insufficient electricity available to keep the lights on. How is that going to work for me and the 4 million fellow sufferers? To add insult to injury, Labour is allegedly planning rationing of power and again this will in some way be via the smart meters.

I don't care about this useless piece of old technology junk, my power usage and power from solar panels, water heating etc is all monitored by a unit that I installed myself. It worked as soon as I switched it on and it intelligently controls the excess power from the solar panels so that nothing is wasted.

How is it possible that I can buy a user friendly unit, next day delivery that is simple and safe to install and it actually works whilst British Gas has failed abysmally.

I need to swap energy providers and I believe Octopus are far superior but for the moment I am expanding my solar power and will install batteries so that I am as independent as possible from the UK energy leaches.

As the British Government has failed to invest in power stations and got carried away with the net zero, green energy farce, we are at risk of blackouts. Its 2024 and we are literally heading back to the dark ages.
